A modest house for a mid aged couple is situated on the outskirts of Ahmedabad city with two bedrooms, one big pooja room, living room and kitchen. The brief given for this particular project was to design a compact dwelling on the exisitng structural grid since the client had bought the land with the exisiting footings on site which was proposed for completely different project.

 

With the fluctuating mindset of the client and lot of geometrical exercises, the design solution has been achived by interventing bare minimum five additional columns. The additional columns were placed in a manner to alter the exisiting rectangular footprint and make the journey inside to house experiential. 

 

The gradual breaking up of masses with the floating wall is layered to achieve a sense of depth.
